[eMINTS] avatars

Valerie,
The word avatar comes from Hindu philosophy of "incarnation". I suppose
this has evolved and is a term for a person or figure used in place of a
person. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar_%28disambiguation%29
A person who doesn't like to submit their photo online can use a
graphical representation of themselves. They can vary to express
emotions, expressions, etc. Avatars are often used in a virtual world
such as Second Life.

Hope this helps,
Gayle

Thanks,

My class has started a blog with Edublogs. My kids want avatars, but I
don't want to use photos. I'm not very experienced with avatars and use
a photo for my own personal use. Do any of you have any ideas or
suggestions for avatars for students?
Thanks,
Julie
