[eMINTS] making connections

My eighth graders had the same problem despite having read some great stories and worksheets, so I showed an older preteen movie that was not that popular. My kids really liked discussing the characters, the settings, and the conflicts in the story. Pick a movie like "The Christmas Story" (you'll shoot your eye out kid) that has that reminiscent childhood feel that encompasses basic childhood memories. It got my class started. Good luck, DeAnn

Any new or old good ideas on teaching making connections? I have some
worksheets and do read alouds, but looking for a
little more to help kids make more meaningful connections. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks, Renee
