[eMINTS] eMINTS Digest, Vol 41, Issue 33

Edwards, Jane edwards at WMR1.K12.MO.US
Tue Jan 29 07:55:57 CST 2008

Hi to all,

I have had two sample copies of Buckledown two different years. This
year the sample had questions very similar to released items that were
on the early science MAP tests and I have copies of those. But if you do
not have access to old released items, it would probably be a good
source of questions and answers.

I have lost the links to several sites that had constructed response
items
geared toward the MAP. One site in particular that I remember came from
the
Kansas City RPDC. If anyone can help me with these links, that would be
great. Thanks in advance.

Marcia, et al -

I know about not sending to the list, but this is worth all seeing, I
believe...

When it comes to Holocaust Projects, this is one of the best... No,
don't expect to do what they have done, but the ideas are so powerful...

http://www.paperclipsmovie.com/

I use the trailer all around the country to show people the "power of
projects."

Cheers.

Jim, Marcia and others,
The Paperclip movie is EXCELLENT. I have shown it to a class of 5th
graders
before and had excellent discussions. I have also shared it with my own
children ages 2nd grade-7th grade. It is a movie that not only shows
compassion and history together, but how ONE person can make a
difference.
I would highly recommend it.

There is also great information including curriculum connections through
videoconferencing on the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
website.

Gina,
I have compiled a few "LEAP YEAR/DAY" sites on my webpage....

You may have to "cut and paste" the link above, since it is so long.

We have used Buckle Down with our 4th graders and find the books to be
very helpful. Our experience has been that it does align with the GLEs.
I like the explanations given in the book and the different DOK levels
used in the questions.
