My school is looking into beginning to use the Dibels test but were under the impression that it must be administered to all students, not just those struggling.
I get the impression from your email that you use it to monitor and guide instruction just for those reading below standards...is this true?
Is anyone else using it only for struggling readers? This would be ideal as it seems unnecessary to test those who are making adequate progress.
Thanks alot!

Dibels.....great test for k-3....we're also using it for 4-5. The 4-5 is
just an oral reading test with retell. We will be adding some questions
to the retell next year to better assess comprehension. I know dibels
goes through 6th grade....don't know what could be used for 7-9.... It is
a simple assessment with tests to progress monitor students who are below
their benchmark every two weeks with benchmark tests at the beginning,
middle, and end of the year. We use it to guide instruction and group
students for additional help. It's truly just a screening....so we find
it useful in that way. I would check out the dibels site....
