We just had our session as well. My kids were in the middle of the "Day
in the Life of a Water Droplet" webquest from the eMINTS website and
were getting ready to write a 5 day journal about their experience in
the water cycle and through the different states of matter. I decided
to let them make a movie instead.

I first showed them a movie I'd made about my vacation. Then, we
storyboarded my movie. (Kind of backwards design....so they could
understand really what the different sections of a storyboard stood
for.) Then, I had them complete 2 slides of their own movie on a simple
storyboard I made in Excel. After 2 slides, I taught the basics of
Movie Maker and let them explore and experiment. (My trainer had
created a file full of water/rain photos and music from the web for them
to import.) Now, since they have a well rounded knowledge base of the
capabilities of MM, I'm going to have them finish the storyboard, using
a rubric from the webquest, and then create the movie. J
