[eMINTS] Kid's versions of classic books?

We're reading Things Not Seen right now and I'd like to be able to compare 
it to H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man without actually reading Wells book in 
class (a bit over 5th graders''s heads!). Any suggestions? I've searched 
the Internet for an abridged version for kids and all I can find are 
synopses. Thanks in advance for any advice/resources!
