[eMINTS] Midwest Education Technology Conference in St. Louis

How does technology integration improve student achievement?  Attend the
Midwest Education Technology Conference for answers to that question.  The
METC 2007, St. Louis has two full days of breakout sessions devoted to
Instructional Technology Integration plus a day of preconference workshops
you might find useful.  
 
On Monday, February 26, 2007, Bernajean Porter's workshop "DigiTales: the
Art of Digital Storytelling" gives you the opportunity to explore the
Seven-Step Story Making process. And on Tuesday, February 27, she will
present "Teachers as StoryKeepers: Crafting Digital Stories of Lessons
Learned."
 
On Monday, Linda Dickeson conducts the workshop, "Classroom Projects with
PhotoShop Elements 4.0."  In this hands-on workshop, participants learn a
short list of photo editing techniques and then will create a lesson or
activity using one or more of these techniques.  And on Tuesday, she will
present "Adobe InDesign for Dazzling Desktop Publishing."
 
Learn to create and use podcasts in your classroom in either "Cultivating
Digital Literacy with Classroom Podcasting (Windows platform)" or
"GarageBand & Podcasting in the Curriculum (Mac Platform)" workshop on
Monday.
 
On Tuesday and Wednesday, February 27 & 28, 2007, breakout sessions specific

Hear Tuesday's keynote speaker Chris Moersch, who developed the levels of
technology implementation in the classroom (LoTi), address the conference
attendees on "Implementing 21st Century Classrooms on a Shoestring Budget."
He discusses how to implement technology-rich, standards-driven learning
environments without the need to purchase more technology infrastructure.  
 
On Wednesday Hall Davidson uses his experience, insight, and humor to guide
teachers, administrators and educational leaders to adopt and adapt new
media in classrooms and connect to the world.  In his keynote address,
"Thinking Bigger While the World Gets Smaller," he shares how electronic
media makes teaching more effective and learning more profound.  
 
In David Warlick's presentation, "An Educator's Guide to Podcasting," learn
how teachers and administrators are using podcasting to promote learning and
community involvement and how students are producing their own podcasts to
share their knowledge.  He also shares his vision for the 21st century
classroom and inspires other educators to create their visions of a new kind
of classroom in "Telling the New Story."
 
METC 2007 is frameworked within the No Child Left Behind legislation and
qualifies as a high quality professional development conference.  All 3-hr
and 6-hr preconference workshops and 1- and 2-hour general sessions may
address teachers' individualized learning plans and goals.
